In the UK we are currently having a mega heat wave! I’m personally hating it so are the kids. We are all sweating and living in front of the fans ha ha! Those in other countries have Air con built in their homes but over here we aren’t used to this heat and neither are our bodies!
Obviously staying hydrated it so important at any time of year but this past week my kids have had a sickness bug and so haven’t wanted to be involved in anything food wise and ice lollies have been my go to for them to get fluid in. But there’s only so many lollies a kid can have!
So today we went to the shop to get in some fruits. My kids go through fruit like its air! But even this couldn’t tempt them today so I thought instead of the conventional eating of fruit we set up our chairs in the kitchen and I let them cut their own fruit up and we added it into little mason jars with lids and straws. They had lots of fun adding their fruit in and then we popped a few ice cubes in and filled the jars with cold water from the fridge!
This made the kids day being 2&4 years old this was an exciting event ha ha! They gulped their water and then it became a game to suck the fruit onto the bottom of the straw of lift it out the jars with sucking power ha ha! They loved it! And asked for more water and fruit so we did it again! It was a huge success in our house hold and tasted yummy!
Give it ago! We used kiwi, raseberrys, blueberrys, strawberries and pineapple! But of course you can use any fruit!
